Wings Over Europe is a flight simulation PC game developed and distributed by Third Wire Productions.
The plot of this air combat simulator places us in West Germany where an hypothetical conflict occurs during the Cold War. The Soviet Union attacks the NATO forces causing Cold War to turn into Hot War. This fictional conflict takes place between the years 1962 and 1984.
Missions of the kind of Combat Air Patrol, Interception, Close Air Support, Iron Hand, Wild Weasel, and Reconnaissance can be performed, and to help us accomplish them we will have different real jets and weapons which belonged to the above mentioned historical period.
Among the aircrafts we can fly we find: The A-10 Thunderbolt II, the Hawker Siddeley Harrier, the Hawker Hunter, the F-105 Thunderchief, the F-100 Super Saber, the F-15 Eagle, the F-4 Phantom II and the F-4F for the German Luftwaffe and on the other side there are several Soviet aircrafts which are controlled by the AI such as the Ilyushin Il-28, various Tupolev models and several variants of the MIGs
All in all, as in other Third Wire games, realism is the most outstanding characteristic, but it is at the same time, easy to learn and play.
